13 already

Day 8: Happy Birthday Kay!!!
i can't believe that she is 13 years old. it is so unreal. she is really starting to look more like a young woman and not a little girl and i know that it is all just down hill from here on out. no more little girl!!!! we just went to phill's parents house yesterday for a small get together. her party with all of her friends is going to be in a couple of weeks. she is going to have a water park party. so all of the big stuff will wait until then. the hormone thing i am hoping will clam down in a year or so because im not to sure both of us will make it. i'm glad i only have the one girl. i can't even imagine what a house full would be like. way too scary of a thought. kay has started getting more interested in her looks. she is always trying new hair dos, but mostly it is just fly away. she really needs a new straightener and not a cheap one like she has now but a good one from a salon or something. she has so much hair and this weather is not helpful one bit. it is frizzy more times than not and it doesn't matter how much product that is put into it. i'm thinking that i might take her to the salon and get her hair done for her birthday. it is time for her to get a style. she has really gotten into buying clothes lately and is discovering the enjoyment of sales. after christmas she went shopping and got a ton of clothes and didn't spend that much because of the sales. she really is a bargain shopper. she is babysitting a ton so she is making the money to go shopping. she has one or two jobs this weekend already and is excited about the shopping that she can go and do. unlike the boys she actually spends her money on something practical like clothes or shoes. the boys blow all of their money on candy, pop, and toys that are gone in minutes or are broken. it drives me crazy. they get their money and instead of waiting until they are in a bigger town where they can spend it they spend it all in the little shops in town where they are spending about three times more than they need to. i guess that is boys for you.

Hello my name is Shirley and im an addict!!!

okay so i'm not making fun of those who have serious addiction issues but i thought that i would share a bit about my big addictions.

1. right now my main one is World of Warcraft. if you don't know it, it is an online game. and it is totally running my world right now. i think about it constantly and have to fight the urge to do nothing but play all day. most days i totally lose on that battle and play when i really should be cleaning or doing something else. i really think that there needs to be WoW anonymous for those of us who have a very serious problem. i like playing because it gives me a little bit of socialism in my boring day of being home and i don't have to leave the house. i chat with people all over the world and it is fun. i seriously sleep deprived because i stay up to late and play. i need to overcome this thing.

2. my other one is crocheting. i go to the store and buy yarn like all the time. when ever i go to walmart that is the first place i go. my hands are in serious pain all the time because they are always doing the same repetitive motions. i'm able to do a lot of my crocheting when phill is playing WoW. (the addiction started with him.) i've made a ton of toques and scarves and i'm seriously thinking of starting an afghan.

will the madness ever end!!!!!? i think that it is a good thing that i'm not a user of anything else. i think that i have some serious addictive behavior issues. well nothing is hurting others yet, so i think that i had better find away to control myself soon before i really start neglecting the important things that i should be doing. like feed my children!!!! they laugh at me all the time because they have only met other kids who have WoW issues so the fact that their parents have those issues is funny and we won't let the kids play because we don't want them playing all the time. well what great examples we are!! i'm in need of help is there any out there anywhere????
Day 6: picture of my latest addicition.....crocheting hats. i found this pattern for these hats and really wanted to have one and i couldn't stop at one im making one for everyone in the family. i already finished phill's and the one in the picture is mine. they are a lot harder than i probably should have tackled at my skill level but i did figure out all of the stitches and it is a little easier on the second one.Day 7: here is a picture from the outside of my front door. it is supposed to snow 15 more centimeters tomorrow so it may get even deeper than this. good thing though is that it isn't as cold as it has been.

pictures 2

Day 4: this is my backyard currently there is so much snow. we are supposed to be getting some warmer weather for the next couple of days which should melt some of the snow then it will get cold and snow some more. i took the picture through the back door window (which is currently broken because of cold weather) so it gave it the blue tint but i kind of liked it so i left it that way.

Day 5: cookies that we made for family home evening. it was a scripture chase where we had to find the ingredients. kay taught this lesson. we then had a plate that we had bought that has a cute poem on it about sharing with others and when all the cookies were gone then they need to fill it up and give it to someone else. we took the plate to a neighbor and hopefully it will move all around the neighborhood or even town since we are not that big of a town.

new beginings

so now that it is the first official full week of the new year i thought that i would write down what i plan to accomplish this year.

1. read all of the Doctrine and covenants and the book of mormon. really i want to do more than just read i really want to study them more. i have read them both many times but i don't think that i have taken the time to understand a lot of it.
2. find more peace in my life.
3. organize!!!!! everything in my life....schedules, house, church callings
4. find way to express my appreciation to others. maybe a simple thank you or a kind word. i just don't think that i do that enough.
5. work on family history. i really want to get this started this year. i have this really strong feeling that it needs to get done so maybe it is time.

so i think that this is a good start. i would add exercise more regularly but that is like an all time standing goal. i don't think that it is one that i will really ever accomplish fully to the way that i want.

and speaking of beginnings the kids are back in school today!!!!!!!! it is nice having them around but i get tired of hearing i'm bored all day. this way they have something to occupy their time. i think that they are actually excited to be back. they miss hanging out with their friends and see someone other than each other. we were having a lot of fighting in the house the last couple of days. and with all the snow and the really cold weather it was understandable but it doesn't mean that it was wanted in any way. so while the kids are at school i guess that i will clean the house that they completely trashed while they were home. this should really be a new goal for the year too but i guess that i will have to fall under the organizing one, because that is what i really need to make this house look good. time to do some decluttering. i hate clutter drives me crazy. anyway until next time have a good day

picture issues

okay so i had issues with the camera yesterday that is why no picture was put up im hoping to work on that today. we really need a new camera but niether phill or i want to get just a simply one so we need to save our money to make the purchase. the one we really really want is a canon rebel eso(?). so that we can learn how to use the different lens and i would really like to take a photography class at the college. i have lots of different things on blogs and the internet that have been really useful with taking pictures, but again it is the camera. im sure that if i could find the manual for our current camera that maybe i could learn how to change up the settings and do all the different things that i read about but finding that manual in my house may be like finding a needle.
we got kay a camera for christmas this year she is so excited about it. she is taking pictures all of the time. she is always getting the candid shots of people. she is really wanting to get into scrapbooking more now that she has all of these pictures. i think that now we may need to get a good printer so that we can print out all of the pictures. maybe if we ever get that new camera we will get a nice photo printer too.
hy got a flip camera from us this year. that one is more annoying because he is always recording us with it. so watch out you may see us on youtube. working on the camera today so that i can post my pictures later

a new year

so it is a new year and i haven't been very good at staying on top of my blogging. i have made my resolution this year to be better at writing. i plan to do a picture a day project for the year too and will post these on as well. in order to get this done everyday i have decided that when i go to the computer it will be the first thing that i do. that way it will be done and over with and i won't come up with some reason as to why it didn't get done. usually it was just laziness or that nothing interesting has happened but as my mom pointed out it isn't how interesting it is. it is finding out what is going on in our lives.

the kids are obviously home for winter break but i am ready to send them back. they have had a nice holiday but i think that even they are ready to be back at school. it gives them something to do for the day instead of telling me how bored they are all the time. we have so much snow and we are supposed to get more tomorrow or tonight. the kids have been having fun playing in it. one night they were up and outside until 10:30pm playing in the snow. thank goodness santa brought mitts and toques for everyone. i will get a picture for today up and posted by tonight.

music that is making me happy!!!

i discovered this artis thru the ilike application on facebook awhile ago and she has become one of my favorite artists. her name is debra arlyn and i just found out today while looking for lyrics to one of her songs that she is from portland of all the places maybe this is why i like her so much. my favorite song is called let it go. it is really uplifting. and it kind of fits my mood right now. here are the lyrics and a link to her myspace where you can here some of her music. i noticed that she has got a lot of concerts coming up around oregon so those who live there you should try and get to one i think that you would really like her.

Let It GoWritten
by: Debra Arlyn

The change in the weather
Is affecting me deeper, this yearI
t's another reminder that time is passing by
Am I doing the right things?
Pursuing the right dreams?
I'll go for a drive
As I take in the scenery, look up at changing leaves
It's then I decide

Chorus:Let it go, out the window
Just let it flow, out of my mind
Because I'll never know, exactly what's in store
So the best thing for sure is
Let it go

There's a price that you pay
For deciding not to take the common way
I've always liked being different, but this is the difference
I never liked to fail
But they're people I meet who are so much like me
They end up just fine
So I fill up my chest with another deep breath
And close my eyes

Bridge:The hardest thing for me to take is,
When things don't move at my pace
And the uncertainty of just where I'll be
A couple of years from today
But I'm tired of the racing in my mind
So I'll leave it all behind

checking in again

hey there

i have been so busy lately. i haven't quite figured out how i got myself so busy this year. but i seem to have some meeting or something going on everyday. i'm trying to get costumes together. kay is going to be a fraggle, red fraggle that is. it should be a fairly simple costume to get together. i don't know what hy is going to do he had said something about being archie from the comic book so that one should be really easy too. jeh is the one that is going to be harded to do he wants to be data from star trek. i don't know why he chose him but that is what he is doing so now i need to make the costume.

i haven't started on my week in a life album yet because this week is just too busy i'm hoping for next week. i was planing to do it digital but phill is home this week and he is on the computer that maybe the real reason no i'm just really busy.

need to take hy to the doctor today he is having some kind of a crazy rash all over his body so we need to figure out what could be the cause of that. i started a new quilt. and i love the colors. maybe i will be pictures of it and post them tomorrow. i have started a chirstmas project that i really need to get finished and maybe i'll try to get the halloween decorations out today and get them up. then i can start thinking more of christmas decorating.

well that is about all for now.
